How To Detangle Rats Nests Or Matted Hair
Do you get huge rats nests in your hair while you sleep or during the day? I do. Really badly. This picture, the rats nest has engulfed like half of my hair, but I know you can't see it well.
WAYS TO PREVENT MATTED HAIR:
Brush Your Hair Five Times A Day: Once in the morning. Once in the afternoon. Twice in the evening. And before you go to bed.
Put Your Hair In A Braid: Sleeping and having your head rub against pillows often mats the hair together. So instead of sleeping with it down or in a ponytail, put it in a braid to reduce friction.
Keep Hair Moisturized: This seems like common sense, but some people might not moisturize enough! Trust me when I say this. If you use ONLY conditioner, your hair will suffer. I have thin, dry hair and I use coconut oil in my hair every day before I wash my hair in shampoo. It helps a lot!
Wrap It Before The Wind Taps It: The wind is notorious for tangling hair. Put it up in a bun, braid, ponytail, anything! You can also wrap it in a scarf or wear a hat!
Try A Satin Pillow Case: Cotton causes more friction on the hair and also strips it of its natural oils. Satin doesn't absorb hairs' oils as much as cotton, and cause significantly less stress on the hair.
If All Else Fails: and you just can't take it anymore, go get your hair cut.
